Johnston Sweepers Production Facility

A new 6,200m2, £11m advanced production facility consolidating the UK companies’ manufacturing base. The manufacturing plant includes a specialist paint shop, welding shop, fully serviced assembly lines, component storage, vehicle test facilities , offices together with covered car parking and external vehicle testing yards.

PWP provided a comprehensive, completely co-ordinated and designed services installation to Johnston Sweepers, one of the world’s market leaders in street cleansing vehicles. This incorporated mechanical, electrical, fire and security services.

Additional installations included fuel and lubricant delivery systems, vehicle exhaust extracts, a full scale vehicle test facility, compressed air, factory natural ventilation strategy, warm wall heat recovery and VRV air conditioning in the offices. A state-of-the-art Building Management System (BMS) was designed and installed in order to control all services and roof level photovoltaics to generate solar electricity. The scheme achieved a BREEAM (2011) Excellent rating.
