Mill Hill School

PWP were contracted, alongside Miller Construction Ltd and architects Frank Shaw Associates on a multi-million pound M&E design and build project for Mill Hill School, Ripley, Derbyshire.

The project required a full suite of Mechanical and Electrical services for a new teaching block for the school with the intention of turning it from a run-down concrete campus into a state-of-the-art specialist arts college incorporating performing, visual and media arts – with exemplary teaching and learning facilities.

With funding available from a wider £18 million government initiative to rejuvenate schools in Derbyshire, Mill Hill School was able to construct a new building with a total of forty rooms and carry out extensive refurbishment to turn its ageing facilities into an inspiring environment worthy of its specialist arts college status.

PWP’s services included Low Pressure Hot Water (LPHW), heating, natural and mechanical ventilation systems, hot and cold water systems, sanitary ware installations, lighting and emergency lighting, power, data cabling, fire alarm system, intruder alarms and CCTV.

"This new building will give students and staff the highest quality facilities for learning and teaching. Derbyshire County Council is proud to have been able to work with the government on this magnificent project. Providing up-to-date modern facilities like this helps pupils take pride in their school and their work."

Councillor Alan Charles, Derbyshire County Council
