Sweeper on road

NGY myplace Youth Centre

The creation of a World Class Youth Centre for young people working with a dynamic partnership of both the private and voluntary sectors. A near derelict, inner city, five storey Grade II listed building was transformed into a modern, welcoming and creative space.

PWP provided a full suite of mechanical, electrical, fire and security services on a comprehensive design and build basis. Specialist areas included a fitness suite, dance studio, recording studio, cafe, consulting and health counselling services. A flexible and innovative approach was required in designing and installing modern services within a Grade II listed city centre building to adhere to the stringent requirements of English Heritage.

"(The opening) is a really significant day and shows a new age of sustainable youth projects in Nottingham. It is crazy to see the building go from being almost an empty shell to what it is today with all the facilities and it’s really awesome to see all the youth around today using the facilities."

Aaron Reily, Youth Worker

"For Base 51 (the opening) is a really big moment for our life as an organisation. We’re taking over the running of the building and all our services are moving over from the previous building. It’s really exciting to be working with lots of other partners and the young people have been involved in choosing this building and deciding what should be in it. It’s absolutely fantastic that all these facilities are here in one building, right in the centre of Nottingham. What more could you ask for as a young person."

Janet Lewis, Chief Executive of Base 51 (Lead Partner)
