Sweeper on road

Nottingham Night Shelter

A 57 bed, emergency accommodation hostel run by Framework, a charity for helpless and vulnerable people in conjunction with Nottingham City Council. Based on London Road, Nottingham, the facility provides the vulnerable and homeless with temporary, secure accommodation. The support team engage with them to assist in moving them back into mainstream living.

PWP provided a full suite of design and build mechanical, electrical and fire and security systems with emphasis on robust design and materials with CCTV/Access/Alarm systems. The individual bedrooms are mainly en-suite with the primary heating source from an adjacent district heating system. The facility also includes Dining Rooms, Communal Lounge, Doctors Surgery and Framework Outreach Team offices.

"Each resident will be assigned a case worker to suggest ways of tackling their problems and embark on an action plan of suitable support designed to give them the skills for independent living. The average stay is three months and most move on successfully although some return again and again. It’s so important for them to have a second, third, fourth chance."
