A £16m transformation of the Harvey Hadden Olympic Swimming Pool in Nottingham has successfully been completed by PWP Building Services. Working alongside Carillion PLC, PWP provided expertise and comprehensive building services to the project and, specifically, to the outstanding new 50m swimming pool.
Known as a ‘long course’ pool and designed with two adjustable pool floors and a transversable boom that allows it to be divided into two 25m pools, the new 21m wide pool will enable a flexible programme to be put in place for both community and club use.
There is also a pool viewing area, café and spectator seating as well as new changing facilities with improved access for disabled people.
In addition to the spectacular pool, the centre boasts a sports hall and two activity studios for fitness and dance, alongside a gym and health suite including sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi.
Following a successful bid to Sport England’s Iconic Facilities Fund, the sport complex’s grant of £1.94m has also provided a 1.5km closed road cycling circuit, expanded athletics track, new squash courts and upgrades to the football pitches with new, outdoor changing facilities.
