A purpose-built, state-of-the-art residential and outreach facility for Derbyshire County Council, designed to support the local community and providing specialist therapeutic and private living areas; all of which are designed to accommodate dementia.
PWP provided a comprehensive design & build programme including a full suite of mechanical, electrical, fire and security services designed to satisfy the wide-ranging needs of this multi-use facility.
The tailored design was implemented utilising the latest data and recommendations of the Dementia Services Development Centre at Stirling University; leaders in the field of dementia care. This modern, sophisticated and flexible approach resulted in the provision of a safe and manageable facility for people living with dementia.
The design has been a key priority to the development’s success, from the initial planning and layout of the building to the selection of interior and exterior décor, furnishings and fittings. All have been designed or chosen to help people with dementia orientate themselves in the building and there are even signs and prompts to help people find their way around.
In fact, so well thought out has been the design that the Staveley Community Care Centre has been awarded the Gold Standard – given to organisations that score at least 75% against essential and recommended measures – after scoring an impressive 94%.
